What is a Standoff

A standoff consists of a barrel, cap, and wall screw, and these pieces of hardware fasten to a sign, securing it to a wall or substrate. Our standoffs are made with Aluminium and come in either Gloss, Matt or Iron Gloss finishes.

As the name suggests, a stand-off allows signs to actually “stand-off” from a substrate or wall they are mounted onto. This gives the sign an eye-catching 3D-floating effect. Standoffs are an excellent addition to enhancing a display’s appeal and complementing the building’s display’s existing decor

Parts of a Standoff System

The most popular style is the “through-grip” standoff, where your signs require a small hole through which the cap screws into the barrel.

Another style is the “edge-grip” standoff where it grips to the edge without the need for drilling any holes.

Assembling and Installing Standoffs:

For this demo, we will be focusing on assembling the through-grip standoffs type. To start you will need to have the following tools and materials:

  1. Your Acrylic Sign
  2. Standoffs with Screws, Barrels & Caps
  3. A Drill
  4. Screwdriver
  5. Level (Optional)

Once you have everything in place its time to mount your signage.

  1. Get accurate measurements of your sign and mark where the screws will go in on the wall.
  2. Unscrew the standoff cap from the barrel, then hold the barrel over the first marked spot and drill the wall screw through into the wall securing the barrel onto the wall. Repeat for each spot.
  3. Optionally – You can drill your holes first and then use a screwdriver to secure the barrel onto the wall.
  4. Match and align your signage to the holes on the barrel. Hold the sign in place and screw the standoff cap into each barrel. This will secure the sign in place
